Comares named one of its streets after ‘Hotel Bali’
On Saturday, July 21, 2012, the municipality of Comares, Málaga celebrated the opening of a street that the citizens dedicated to one of the Medplaya Hotels in Costa del Sol, namely to the Hotel Bali in appreciation of the those who have worked in this hotel during the 41 years of its existence. Currently there are only six active employees of Comares at the hotel Bali, plus two early retirees. There is also one at the hotel Pez Espada, which had worked before in the Bali. In the course of 41 years of the hotels’ existence there were 46 Comares citizens working at the hotel, all of them admirable workers.
The formal ceremony was held at the town hall of Comares. During the ceremony emerged a great surprise involving the area manager of the Medplaya Hotels in the Costa del Sol, Mr. José Miguel Bordera Francés. He was named Honorary Citizen of Comares in appreciation of the many locals employed at the hotel Bali, and for his long career as a Manager of Medplaya Hotels in the Costa del Sol. The honoree which was accompanied by his family and colleagues, highly appreciated the honour and announced that the main bar of the Hotel Bali will bear name ‘Bar-Lounge Comares’.
The celebration has been accompanied by “Panda Verdiales”, local group singing traditional songs. Later on began Comares’ Verdiales Festival, which coincided with the opening, a celebration that lasted until dawn.
