A dazzling production on ice of the Hofmann’s classic novelette The Nutcracker is touring Europe in 2012 with shows in Theatre Cervantes, Málaga 12 – 18 December. Beautiful costumes, a magnificent set and special effects create an evening of magic in the Theatre Cervantes in Málaga.
Tony Mercer, the world’s most important artistic director and producer of contemporary theatre on ice, together with the four-time world champion and double Olympic gold medallist, Evgeny Platov, and the double world champion, Maxim Staviski, has created exquisite choreography to the rhythm of Tchaikovsky‘s unforgettable music.
Impressive leaps and turns, sophisticated costumes, sumptuous scenery, amazing special effects and a company of professional skaters, professionals who have more than 250 medals among them. These elements are brought together to give a version of one of the most famous and widely-seen shows in classical ballet; one that is popular all over the world, particularly during the Christmas period.
Inspired by A. Dumas‘ adaptation of the tale by E.T.A. Hoffmann, The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, it tells of the adventures of a girl whose only Christmas present is a nutcracker doll in the shape of a soldier, which comes to life. Together, they travel to the Land of Sweets where they are received by the Sugar Plum Fairy, with dancing candy canes and marzipan figures.
